Moderation & reader reviews.

The rule of thumb.

We hold reader reviews to a low bar: be a person, not a bot; write about the thing, not the writer. Disagreement is welcome. Abuse, spam, and personal attacks are not.

What we remove.

• Spam, promotional link-dropping, or AI-generated filler.
• Harassment, doxxing, hate speech, or threats.
• Content that outs private individuals or breaks the law.
• Off-topic posts that have nothing to do with the review.
• Duplicate posts or ban-evasion re-registrations.

What we don't remove.

Opinions we disagree with. Strongly worded takes. Negative scores. Criticism of our reviewers or our scores, as long as it stays civil and on-topic.

How the queue works.

By default, new reader reviews land in a moderation queue and appear on the site once an editor approves them. Guests always go through the queue.

Trusted readers.

Signed-in readers earn auto-approval after three approved reviews with a clean record — no reviews of theirs have been hidden by flags or moderators. If a trusted reader's post is later hidden, they return to the queue until their record clears again.

Flagging.

Every reader review has a Flag button. Any signed-in reader can flag a post they think breaks the rules. A post that collects five flags is automatically hidden and queued for editor review — approved back, removed, or left hidden depending on what an editor decides.

Editing your own reviews.

You can edit or delete your reader reviews from your account page. Edited posts go back through moderation unless you're a trusted reader.

Appeals.

If a post of yours was hidden and you think that's wrong, reply via the pitch form and pick "Request". An editor will take another look.
